Ryan Fleming Update

Dear Mosaic Youth,

It has been a month since I left good ole Arkansas but please know that you all have been close to my heart and in my prayers.  We are ushering into a new year and with a new year brings hopes of new beginnings, a fresh start, and opportunity for Christ to continue to move through us.  I am so glad that Mosaic Church desires to cultivate its body of believers to be active for our Lord Christ and not just be spectators.  Please know it was such an honor to serve with the student body for the Fall and I want to encourage you to keep up with me my via email and my mission newsletters that I send out.  We are all in this race together and I want to form solid prayer relationships so we can pray for each other for the challenges that lie ahead.  Who knows, some of you might get to come to Nepal someday and serve alongside me.  That would be awesome!!  I wanted to attach my recent newsletter below with some spiritual insight I have been chewing on lately. January 2011 Newsletter

Well my friends, Christmas 2010 has come and gone and we are now into 2011. Woohoo! I received a sweet frog hat from my cousins for Christmas and I have been finding excuses to hop around in public to embarrass those around me. It is amazing how the simple things in this life can bring joy and I look forward to hopping over to Nepal sometime in May (My hopping legs will be tired though.)

I have been travelling around Oklahoma and Texas for the last three weeks meeting with churches and individuals talking about my mission vision to serve in Nepal. It has been great to reconnect with folks, hear how the Lord is working, and how God encourages us and speaks through the body of believers. I pray that I can awake in the morning with an attitude that desires to see and hear from God. It is incredible what happens when we become open to hearing the Lord’s leading in our life. I have been reflecting lately on the importance of giving God glory and providing honor and respect to the power of his voice.


Psalm 29:1-5

“Ascribe to the Lord, O mighty ones, ascribe to the Lord glory and strength. Ascribe to the Lord the glory due his name; worship the Lord in the splendor of his holiness.

The voice of the Lord is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the Lord thunders over the mighty waters.

The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is majestic. The voice of the Lord breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.”

My reflection on this beautiful Psalm is asking myself how can I approach the Lord with due respect and worship Him in all His glory. His voice is powerful and mighty so how can I put myself in a position to hear and respond to it? What is clouding our ability to hear from the Lord and fall to our knees and worship God completely? I would appreciate your perspective and insight to this verse if you would like to share.

We often wonder why we can not hear God's word and sometimes it is as simple as opening our Bibles to read His word.  Take the time to open up God's word and pray for guidance as God imparts wisdom for your life.  There are no complex formulas or strategies for hearing from God.  Give the Lord your time, give Him your prayers, and wait patiently for Him. 

The months are getting closer to my departure to Nepal and I would appreciate your prayers as I prepare to leave. There is still a lot of fundraising for me to do and I need to stay focused on not relying on my own strength but allowing God’s powerful voice to work through me.
   Please let me know how I can be praying for you. It is always a joy to hear from people that have faithfully lifted me up in prayer. Let us join together to pray for each others needs. My main prayer request is to remain restful in the Lord as I leave many friends and family this year.
