Hey parents, I’m sorry this a day late, but we’ve been
having a blast. We all got settled into our host homes well Sunday night.
Monday morning we met to hear Derek Horn give the vision for Converge Church,
the church plant that we are here partnering with. It was incredible to hear
him say that he left a healthy church that he loved because there are lost
people in the world who don’t know Jesus. It challenged us all to ask if we are
willing to let go of our healthy, happy situation for people to come to know
Jesus. We prayer walked neighborhoods, schools and nursing homes. The aim
behind this is to ask the Lord to go before Converge and prepare hearts to meet
and know Jesus. It stretched out
students pray outloud and even pray with strangers that they met along the way.
We’ve served at the YMCA, helping to build relational trust
in a local meeting point for people. Our students worked their tails off
serving, and we got to see some great leadership come out as students made a
plan to accomplish the task. This helps makes a good first impression for
Converge in the community as people see that they are serious about serving
their community. We’ve put on a game night for middle school and junior high
students. Derek Horn about the grace of God, while Tripp Jackson, Kassie Roland
and Taylor Holmstrom led worship. One family that was just walking through the
Y heard us and asked to visit Derek’s missional community on Sunday night.
All students are doing well. A few have struggled with the altitude,
but we’re keeping lots of water in them.
God is growing our hearts for seeing lost people reached here and in
NWA. More to come…
Grace and peace,
The Colorado Springs Team
